JESS LITTLEWOOD (b. 1988) studied at Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design and lives and works in London.
Through an investigation of her personal experience as both an artist and a mother, Littlewood explores themes of time, transformation, connection, and our relationship with the home. Working with collage, her pieces are realised as hand-quilted hangings and printed works on paper. Drawing inspiration from historical craft and the decorative arts, Littlewood conjures a densely layered world where everyday domesticity and a rich internal life intersect. Transformation is further explored through her creative process: digitally assembling hundreds of images of moiré fabric - a material that is itself a product of metamorphosis. These collages then undergo their own transformation when printed onto fabric and quilted, firmly embedding them within the realm of domesticity and the work of women.
