CARLOS WOMACK

CARLOS WOMACK (b. 1994) is an American painter living and working in London. He received his BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2016 and his MA in Conservation of Books from West Dean College in 2022.

Womack’s work is rooted in rigorous observation - for him, it’s all about looking. He is fascinated by the abstract shapes that form and dissipate to create our reality; through interpreting these shapes, he discovers truth and a sense of place. Drawing inspiration from Edwin Dickinson (1891–1978), George Bellows (1882–1925), and Thomas Eakins (1844–1916), Womack’s work nods to the expressive, exploratory processes these painters engaged in. His resulting paintings continue a centuries-long dialogue between reality, light, and perception.
